Nothing to complain about

So, I'm having car trouble lately.

I see that there's a bus that goes pretty much from my front door to Michael Levine's, and off I go.
I walked around, had a hot dog, bought fabric I don't need...you know the drill.

Various little detours caused me to catch the bus home at Broadway and 7th.
While I was waiting, this woman with a huge suitcase walks up to me and asks if this is the bus that goes to Children's Hospital.

I told her that it was, that I lived nearby, and that I'd happily point it out to her.

The young woman with the suitcase had just gotten off a Greyhound from Arizona and was on her way to see her
3 year-old son - who had been airlifted there from Arizona for an immediate life-saving liver transplant.

3.
Years old.

She also left behind a 1 and 2 year-old to be with him, soooo...

The next time something crappy, hurtful, annoying, or just plain awful happens to you, please remember that it could be much, much worse, and there are loads of people out there who REALLY have a right to complain about something.

Later all...

L.A. Lady (I am assuming you wrote on servernotslave blog, so this is my response):
"Now, if your plate doesn’t come out the side of barbecue sauce that it was SUPPOSE to come out with AND your steak comes out the wrong temp keep in mind that that is probably not the servers fault it was the kitchen that goofed."

While I agree with the steak scenario, sorry, but the bbq sauce issue is the SERVER'S FAULT ALWAYS for "FORGETTING TO BRING IT OUT." Even if another server runs the food, I have had at least 10 servers over the years VOLUNTARILY offer to bring me my condiments before my food came out and they did. It's up to my server to remember the sauces, NOT the kitchen staff. Did the kitchen staff bring me my food? NO, MY SERVER DID. Also, is the server BLIND that they cannot tell if a container of bbq sauce is on the plate? OF COURSE NOT! It's NEVER the kitchen staff's fault for my server FORGETTING to bring the condiments to me.

"Again, a server is rarely at fault if things come out all wrong, drinks or food."

How can you possibly say that? The servers are blind according to you? Wrong drinks, well gee if I ordered a pina colada, it's like DUH, don't bring me a margarita. Sorry, but when the SERVER BRINGS out the COMPLETLEY OBVIOUSLY WRONG THING, it's THEIR FAULT. That's the TRUTH. Wrong entrées, not only have we had waiters that brought out the wrong entrées, but one of them actually input the order into the computer wrong. One waiter admitted he grabbed the wrong plate from the kitchen due to that he was handing out other table's food as well as ours. He gave my husband fried shrimp w/fries when he ordered crawfish au gratin. It's like DUH, both of those dishes look COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Even if the kitchen staff makes the wrong food with the order being correctly put in, it's up to the SERVER to actually VERIFY what the heck they are taking to the table if it's correct or not. It is not the kitchen staff that takes me the food, so you cannot blame them for YOU not VERIFYING the plate of food being the completely wrong entrée. YOU TOOK THE ORDER, so YOU SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR BRINGING IT OUT AS CORRECTLY AS POSSIBLE CONSIDERING YOU ARE THE PERSON MAKING THE TIP as long as YOU took the order and brought out the food. Another server that runs the food can verify the ticket. One time, we had an Applebee's waitess admitted she put in baby back ribs when my husband had ordered a burger, so another server ran baby back ribs to us, which neither one of us ordered. You cannot blame the runner, because she only could go by the ticket.

So, you have no clue of what you are taking about. It's very rare it's NOT the server's fault the customer receives mistakes. If things as you said are "ALL WRONG", GUESS WHAT? YOU HAVE A SET OF EYES, so I would think you could tell just by LOOKING without touching the food what's wrong. You wrote the order down, so if you bring out the food, you have a WAY of VERIFYING if the food is correct you are BRINGING ME. It's your JOB to BRING me correct things as far as obvious mistakes are concerned. You wouldn't know if my steak is undercooked a little, but you would know if I had a wrong side dish, a wrong entrée, something missing like a side dish or a condiment or anything that's obvious.

You say this: "If your salad comes out with the dressing on it rather than on the side then, yeah, it probably is the servers fault." If the server that took the order brought it out, it's 100% the server's fault, NOT "PROBABLY" for not paying attention to that the salad has dressing on it that's not supposed to be there and it's supposed to be on the side instead. I don't get why you feel it's their fault for that, but not for not noticing a missing container of bbq sauce? Those are both OBVIOUS mistakes. You don't have to TOUCH a thing to notice both of those type of mistakes, so WHY wouldn't the server be at fault when they are BRINGING the food out? The kitchen staff wasn't told the order from the customer, the customer told the order to their server, so their SERVER is responsible for making sure the order is obviously correct. The server is making the tip to do that. It's like duh, you don't notice the side of bbq sauce isn't there? I mean seriously, you blame a server for dressing not on the side, but yet, if someone wants a side of bbq sauce, it's not their fault for forgetting to bring it? That takes the cake. It IS their fault for FORGETTING to leave the kitchen with it. It's THEIR JOB to not to forget what the customer has ordered. Even if another server is involved, it's up the main server to offer to bring the condiments out before the food comes out so they won't be forgotten by ANYONE. Take charge of your tip and your destiny.

"But if you order steaks frequently when you go out and they are overdone, I guarantee you that it is very rare that it is the fault of a server"

I agree with you on things that the server cannot just tell with their eyes that something is wrong and that they would have to CUT INTO THE STEAK to know it's wrong or right.

"Stop thinking YOU are better than servers bacause YOU are NOT!!"

Then WHY are you not admitting that the person at fault that forgets a side of bbq sauce is NOT the person that plated the food, it's the person BRINGING out the food and took the order as well? Does the bbq sauce walk itself? I think NOT!!

"OBVIOUSLY never worked in the industry before"

You obviously aren't a CUSTOMER MUCH or have had wrong food or drinks brought out to your table very often to fully understand that those mistakes could have been easily prevented by the server taking charge of their tip. If the waiter that brought out quesadillas when I ordered bbq chicken nachos would have verified his written order in the KITCHEN, he wouldn't have BROUGHT IT OUT WRONG. He should have came to our table with just my husband's burger w/fries and told me he put my order incorrectly and most importantly, NOT have brought out my food wrong to me. See, even if he would have put in the order correctly, by BRINGING it to me wrong, shows how LAZY and UNCARING he is not to VERIFY the plate of food that he is bringing me. It's his job to BRING out the food as correctly as possible.
http://reviewsby.us/menuitem_image/d431ec88f654773ffa102ffbaa53d743

In this picture, you can ***SEE**** there is a side of bbq sauce with these chicken tenders. So if the bbq sauce wasn't there when the MENU states it's supposed to be there and the customer didn't say they didn't want it, GUESS WHAT? It's up to my SERVER to get the kitchen staff to get some bbq sauce *****BEFORE**** heading to my table. I told MY SERVER the order. I didn't tell the kitchen staff my order nor am I tipping the kitchen staff, so they aren't responsible for BRINGING me the food with the correct condiment. The SERVER is responsible for noticing if the bbq sauce is missing from the plate. You act like the server cannot notice this.

You are also act like a server cannot notice the difference between a pina colada and what a margarita looks like. The wrong drink, unless the drinks look the same, ARE the server's fault for bringing it out wrong. If I order one margarita and you bring me another, which is in the same sized glass, you wouldn't know if it's wrong, but if it's in a very different glass, you might be able to tell if it's wrong depending on what it is, though I can't say for sure. If I order a white russian, I wouldn't expect my server to serve me a margarita. Come on, JUST ADMIT that the SERVER CAN NOTICE THE MISTAKES THAT THEIR CO-WORKERS MAKE TO PREVENT THE MISTAKES FROM GETTING TO THE CUSTOMERS. You see, if my server notices and gets some obvious mistakes fixed BEFORE bringing it to me, I don't receive the mistake, therefore, when I receive a very obvious mistake, it's the SERVER'S fault if they bring it to me wrong.

Let's say the customer orders those chicken tenders that come with bbq sauce on the picture. Let's also say they order a side of honey mustard as well. Do you see a side of honey mustard? No, but you do see a side of bbq sauce. So, if I were the server, I would tell the kitchen staff to give me a side of honey mustard. Even though I would have put in the order correctly, I can CATCH their errors. The server's job is to PREVENT ANY OBVIOUS ERRORS from getting to the customer since THEY are the ones making the tip and they are the ones BRINGING out the food to the customer.

So when you say stop thinking I am better, well look at your LAZY ASS ATTITUDE that it's not your fault, when you can take the menu and written order, then compare it to the plate of food. You can go through the list of things and notice the ones that are missing. That's the server's job, because remember WHO brings the food to you and WHO makes the tip. The kitchen staff doesn't walk the food to the customer without the honey mustard they ordered, my server does if it's missing on the plate.

1. Chicken Tenders - Check
2. Bbq Sauce - Check
3. Honey Mustard - No

"IGNORANT (yes IGNORANT) bitch believe it or not!"

You need to look in a MIRROR. You are so IGNORANT to not realize you can CATCH MOST KITCHEN MISTAKES. I NEVER SAID ALL, but MOST kitchen mistakes you can catch since you took the order, you have ways to verify if it's correct or not as far as the correct side dishes, correct entrees, correct drinks(unless it's hard to tell such as one margarita vs. another that's the same color, same glass), correct condiments, missing condiments, missing side dishes, missing entrees, and wrong soft drinks(had a STUPID waiter bring me in a CLEAR GLASS SPRITE when I ordered Mr. Pibb). I know in most restaurants servers can get their own soft drinks, but let's say they didn't, SPRITE is CLEAR and Mr. Pibb is DARK, so no matter WHO fixed them, it's like DUH, that's not the correct drinks.

"Stop embarassing yourself “PRINCESS”!!!!"

YOU are EMBARRASSING YOURSELF by me PROVING YOU 100% WRONG!! I have PROVEN I AM CORRECT. You have proven you have NO COMMON SENSE WHAT-SO-EVER AND ARE VERY LAZY NOT TO VERIFY THE ORDER YOU WOULD BRING OUT TO THE CUSTOMER. I am not "embarrassed", because it's the TRUTH what I am saying. You are acting as if servers are blind that they cannot tell the differences in food or drinks. I had a waiter bring me mac n' cheese instead of a loaded baked potato when he took the order. Those both LOOK VERY DIFFERENT. WHO CARES if the kitchen staff didn't cook the correct food and plate the correct food, it's the WAITER that BROUGHT me the wrong food, therefore, HE was 100% at fault for BRINGING it to me from the kitchen to our table WRONG. WHY CAN'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT, HUH? ANYTHING YOU CAN NOTICE WITH YOUR EYES THAT'S WRONG WITH THE FOOD OR DRINKS IS ****YOUR FAULT********** YOU ARE DECIDING NOT TO VERIFY WHAT IS IN YOUR HANDS YOU ARE HANDING ME. YOU ARE SO STUPID. YOU REALLY ARE!!!

I had a waiter at Chili's that when I ordered my fries "lightly cooked", guess what the waiter did? He told me that the kitchen staff cooked them too long so they were brown instead of not overdone, so he would have our entrees out in a little while, because they recooked my fries. See, that waiter TOOK CHARGE of his tip by even something that wasn't cooked correctly that was obvious by the COLOR of the fries, that he told the cooks to recook my fries and he REFUSED to ***********BRING******** it out incorrectly. Don't you get that's what the server is supposed to do when there's a mistake? The server is supposed to notice OBVIOUS errors and get them fixed BEFORE bringing it to the table wrong. It's not my waiter's fault the fries were cooked incorrectly, because I truly believe he put in the order correctly, but if he would have BROUGHT them to me overdone, GUESS WHAT? My waiter would have been at fault for BRINGING me the fries incorrectly cooked as to the way I ordered them. You can tell with your EYES if fries are yellow or dark brown. It's VERY OBVIOUS to the EYES. So for him taking charge of his tip, he got 26% or 27% tip. He did what he was SUPPOSED to do and CARED about if his customer were happy with their food or not by BRINGING IT OUT CORRECTLY. That's the KEY. WHY DON'T YOU GET THAT?

I KNOW, BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO DO WHAT THAT WAITER DID FOR ME.
