L.A. Lady

I'm a Hollywood native who's ready to spread the love for L.A. You'll be reading about my assorted adventures, nutty knitting and crochet projects, wacky and wonderful friends and whatever else I feel like yammering about. Don't forget shoes. Very important.

Another project...

This is a scarf, its bobble fringe, and its new owner.
Shockingly brief for me, no?
The post, not the scarf.

Mea Culpa

OK, I'm just a few entries into my blog, and already I've been corrected.

My "Cousine" informed me today that she used to call me "L.A. Woman" -- not "L.A. Lady."

That explains the years of Elton and Jim comingling in my head -
talk about your strange bedfellows.

But as I stated before, my arrival home sealed it.

"L.A. Lady" I am, and so I shall remain.

So there, Cousine!

But tonight, I began to bid goodbye to someone who has come to be a dear friend - much later in the game than she ever should have.

Jess, I'll miss you - but keep the couch fluffed for me.

WeHo girls, don't be mad that I left so abrubtly - I'm trying to take advantage of every spare second I have with a dear, soon to be departed friend.

I posted a photo of me & Jessica...

Love always all...

Abby

My first project post!!!!

So lately, it's been damn near impossible to pry the crochet hook out of my hand.

I'm a knitter first...but hoo, boy!
Crochet does wonders for that very Aries need for instant gratification.

And it turns out that I don't suck at it - who knew?

This past weekend, I finished the 88-square floral blanket for my mom, and then I whipped up an Alpaca scarf for my friend Jessica who's moving to NYC - shell stitch with bobble fringe, and hopefully soon I'll get a picture of her wearing it.

AND I went out over the weekend too!

Tonight, I finished the squares for the second panel of the hippie bag I'm making.

I started out making the 'Granny's No Square' bag from "Happy Hooker", but this soon adopted a mind of its own.

I really like that about crochet, actually.

It's so easy to veer off in a completely different direction - perfect for that Aries superiority thing.

What, a book written by an expert contains more knowledge/skill/creativity than I posess?

Impossible!

I've included a shot of the one finished side of the bag, and the kitty, Flip Flop, enjoying my mom's blanket.

Nighty night!

Anniversary

To quote a columnist from the Times-Picayune today, it's very much the wrong word.

For a woman who's so in love with Hollywood, today reminds me only of the sadness which befell the city which welcomed me so warmly.

The Big Easy, New Orleans, the city which welcomed me unconditionally...please accept my apologies for what our government failed to do for you...please accept my apologies for what my meager donation could not do.

Normally, I can't shut up.

Today, I can't say a word.

I've offered a few pictures of another city which felt like home.

Love always, and have one for me,

Abby

Some background

Hi, all!

Well, I'm starting to figure out this whole blogging thing - I DID say starting, so please be patient with me.

Why blog?

Well, I've always wanted to, but lately I've been recently inspired by some new friends, and this is also a great place to share inspiration that I've kept close to me for years.

Like my blog name - L.A. Lady.

When my dear Cousine Sherise - we actually call each other "Cousine," don't ask me why - lived in NYC, that's what she used to call me. She hates the picture I'm adding here, but I think we both look pretty glamorous.

This is where you nod your head.

And after coming home after living away from L.A. for a year, 'Tiny Dancer' was the first song to come on the radio during my first drive down Sunset on my first day home.

The minute I heard the lyrics, "Blue jean baby, L.A. Lady..." I burst into tears.

So there you have it.

This is also a great place for me to show off some of the photos I've taken over the years and my numerous knitting and crochet projects - without dragging more poor souls to my computer or my knitting bag.

I'll keep it brief for tonight...more later.
